In a resounding vote, Ethiopian American Community Activists in Northern Virginia agreed to endorse Sasha Gong for Virginia House of Delegates in the 46th District.

In the 2009 general election, in few days (November 3, from 6 am to 7 pm ), Ethiopian American voters will elect there representatives (    Gubernatorial candidates, General Assembly candidates, Congress representatives) in many Legislative Districts across the USA.  This year’s general election is significant in our history because we need more representatives who will work hard to ensure universal human values, promote democracy, improve educational standard and support comprehensive immigration policies more than ever. We are convinced that candidate Sasha Gong who is running for Virginia House of Delegates in the 46th District is such a representative.

Ethiopian American Civic Advocacy endorses Councilman Terry Seamens (City Council Ward 4 in Takom Park, MD) in his bid for the upcoming general re-election that will be held in 2 days.

We have worked with Councilman Terry Seamens for few years. Councilman Terry Seamens is an effective and passionate advocate for Ethiopian American issues including promotion of Human Rights and Democratic Freedom in Ethiopia.

He is a Councilman we can count on to advocate for Ethiopian Americans.  As most of you know, Councilman Terry Seamens was instrumental in the Takoma City’s joint effort to pass a resolution supporting the House Bill HR 2003 (the Ethiopia Democracy and Accountability Act, at that time it was HR 5680).

UN2009

On 27. September, Dr. Gregory Stanton, President of Genocide Watch, spoke at an event in, Washington that the Genocide Watch wrote a detailed letter to the United Nations High C ommissioner for Human Rights (see letter) asking the UN Human Rights High Commissioner to act on the atrocities in Ethiopia. In his speech, Dr. Stanton also said that the High Commissioner wants to hear from Ethiopians!
